I Is A 56-year Old Lady, Who Sustained A Brain And Multiple Injuries In A Road Traffic Accident As Pedestrian. She Has Been Left With A Range Of Moderate-severe Mental Health, Physical And Cognitive Difficulties. As Her Support Worker, You Will Mainly Work On A One-to-one With Her But Will Be Closely Monitored And Supported By I's Brain Injury Case Manager. The Role Also Involves Regular Joint Working With Therapists Involved With The Client, Including Physiotherapist, Speech And Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, And Neuro Psychologist.
I Is A Warm And Caring Lady, Who Likes To Entertain, Socialise And Access The Community. I Has Been Tremendously Motivated To Work At Her Rehabilitation, And Enjoys Learning New Things And Accepts Challenges.
The Successful Candidate Will Be Able To Continue To Motivate And Encourage Her And Will Also Be Able To Work Well Within The Client's Home, Having Respect For I’s Culture, Privacy And Dignity.
I Is Interested In Having Support To Assist Her With:
* Attending G.P, Hospital And Therapy Sessions.
* Managing Of Medication, Including Administering, Documentation, Ordering Etc.
* Monitoring And Promotion Of Health And Well Being, Both Physically And Mentally.
* Attending College, And Support With Working From Home.
* Going To The Gym And Exercising At Home.
* Visiting Family And Friends.
* Expanding Her Social And Leisure Opportunities Including Short Breaks/holidays.
* Attending Her Voluntary Work Placement.
* Shopping And Accessing Other Community Amenities Including Church.
* Support With Food Preparation, And Healthy Eating.
* Undertaking Some Domestic Chores.
* Working Alongside Her Team Of Therapists And Case Manager.
* Planning, And Organising.
* Maintaining A Safe And Healthy Environment.
I Needs To Use A Walking Stick When She Is Out, And You Will Need To Have Your Own Vehicle In Order To Assist Her To Access Community Activities. Mileage And Other Expenses Are Paid.
As A Result Of The Injury, I Was Diagnosed With Bi Polar Disorder. This Impacts Greatly On I’s Activities Of Daily Living When She Becomes Mentally Unwell. I Also Experiences Pain As A Result Of The Injury.
I Can Experience Significant Difficulties With Communication, Which Deteriorate Further When She Is Ill. I Wears A Hearing Aid, Reading And Distance Spectacles.
I Also Has High Blood Pressure And Cholesterol, Controlled By Medication And A Healthy Lifestyle.
A Female Worker Is Needed Due To Some Personal Assistance Being Needed In Public Places I.e Changing Rooms Therefore This Post Is Exempt Under The Sex Discrimination Act 1975 S7 (2)(ba) And S7 (2)(b).
Shifts Will Be Worked Covering 8am To 2.30pm And 2.30pm To 9pm, 7 Days Per Week Plus An Additional 30 Minutes Per Shift Allowed For Administration Totalling 7 Hours Per Shift. A Rolling Four Week Rota System Is In Place. You Will Be Required To Work Additional Hours From Time-to-time To Cover Annual Leave, Sickness, Attendance At Training Days And Staff Meetings, These Will Be Remunerated At Your Usual Rate. We Currently Have 1 X 28hr Post (4 Shifts Per Week), Please Specify On The Application Form Which You Are Interested In.
Rates Of Pay: £10.50 Per Hour Weekdays, £12.50 Per Hour At Weekends.
