Our Books for Free centres
Our "Books for Free" initiative rescues unwanted books otherwise destined for landfill or pulping. Healthy Planet redistributes these books - for free - throughout communities via our Books for Free centres nationwide. By visiting a centre and taking a book, people reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill each year and help to recycle valuable resources. There is no catch and the only restriction is that a maximum of 3 books are taken at any one time.

The role
As the interest in Books for Free continues to grow, we rely on volunteers like you to promote our charity, and help set up and run the centres. We want you to feel comfortable, connected and confident in your position as a volunteer! General responsibilities revolve around helping open and close up the centre and distributing books. You may also help to spread Healthy Planet's message in the community by planning and organising events, or just by talking to people in the centre.
We are also on the look out for a Lead Volunteer. This role would also include helping to set up the centre in its early stages, inducting and supervising volunteers, liaising with Head Office on book stock, donations or any issues with the centre, and being a key holder to the centre.
