It is a bit big for a phone - but it is both a phone and a Tablet. Like a Big Galaxy S2 or Note. You can make calls and send Texts, just like a phone.

Because this is considered as a phone you can use a normal phone tariff. So if you buy eg a Three SIM with 'All You Can Eat Data' you have unlimited data.

If you put a an Unlimited Data sim in other tablets eg iPad the network will cut you off unless you buy a more expensive 'Data Only' sim

Don't confuse this with many of the unbranded Android Tablets, many of which are using 3 year old firmware - 1.6 or 1.9. This is the latest Jelly Bean 4.1.1 Firmware.
