This is a pair of victorian balloon back chairs. I am convinced that it is mahogany wood but not 100% sure. These chairs would have been made around 1890. Underneath the padded seat the numbers VIII and VIIII are carved into the wood, I am assuming that these would have been chairs number 8 and 9 from an original set of 12.
