This is a superb example of a mahogany, late Victorian 'Arts & Crafts' piano by Bechstein and designed by Walter Cave. A very famous furniture designer and architect of the turn of the 1900s.
A beautiful tulip design, art nouveau fretwork behind the lectern. Original brass mounted candlesticks with tapering form, rising from the legs. It has wonderful brass strap hinges and mounts.
The number of the piano incised under the lid is RD 328/639 plus USA patent 24805.
As always, with Bechstein pianos, this example is of very fine quality and in excellent condition for its age. The medium patina of the mahogany is particularly pleasing and the playing action of the piano is very comfortable and easy. I have had this piano for 35 years and have played it regularly, but sadly it is not needed anymore.
Removal costs and strategy are the buyer's responsibility I'm afraid! This is a very competitive price for such a beautiful instrument.
