Cappy Cottage is situated in the heart of the magical Lamorna Valley, famous for its former artists’ colony - and for its timeless beauty and tranquility.
Dating from 1840, but sympathetically modernised, this self-catering cottage is the perfect romantic hideaway holiday home in which to unwind, and from which to explore the far west of Cornwall.
Nestling amongst the trees in this lush “valley of the flowers”, Cappy Cottage is just yards from the Lamorna Wink Inn, whilst Lamorna Cove is only a short stroll beyond.
This self-catering holiday home is able to accommodate 4 people in comfort. The main cottage, with its 2 ft thick granite walls, retains all its period charm. Off the ground floor hallway is a double bedroom and separate bathroom / WC, whilst, at first floor level, are the spacious living room, with vaulted ceiling, and kitchen.
Although not suitable for unaccompanied younger children needing supervision, the separate Old Dairy Suite (once the site of Lamorna’s dairy) offers the advantage of greater independence for two couples, or parents and teenagers, staying together at the property. The accommodation comprises a triple aspect twin bedroom, with en-suite shower, washbasin and WC. A shared utility room lies adjacent.
The courtyard itself provides a perfect seating area for secluded external dining on those long hot sunny days - or just to relax and sunbathe. The courtyard opens onto Cappy Cottage’s partly lawned terraced garden, where care must be taken owing to the slope of the ground. Screened by mature trees and shrubs, the garden affords excellent levels of privacy.
Guests seeking a quiet holiday can simply enjoy a pint of Doom Bar at the Wink, or a wide-ranging home-cooked daytime menu down at the cafe in Lamorna Cove as you take in those wonderful sea views and watch the divers. Kayaks, pedalos and fishing boats can also be hired from here during the summer months. For those seeking added luxury, a discreet entrance located just yards from Cappy Cottage leads up to the nearby exclusive Cove Hotel where cocktails and a restaurant await. Visitors may even purchase day membership of the Hotel’s Leisure Club, which includes use of their heated outdoor swimming pool.
For more serious walkers, the property makes an ideal base from which to venture along the nearby South-West Coast Path to Mousehole (recently cited by the Daily Telegraph as one of Britain’s Ten Best Walks) or towards the Minack Theatre at Porthcurno, and to visit local archaeological features such as the Merry Maidens stone circle - all within this special Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
