The community:

The house is situated on the Carpenters Estate, and was once owned by the Carpenters Company http://www.thecarpenterscompany.co.uk/ . Which has a historical connection going back 700 years, with the first written reference being a mention of a Master Carpenter in the City of London's records of 1271. There is a disproportional ratio of senior citizens on the estate in relation to the rest of the borough. 48% of the accommodations are registered to retirees or pensioners. It’s probably the last vestige of local community in Stratford.
