Here in Leith, Edinburgh, we are restoring a 1956 built, steam driven, former Scottish Government research vessel.

A truly unique opportunity.

We are a registered charity, who are actively renovating a 202ft long 1000ton, 1000hp steam research trawler. Steam ships are becoming very rare in modern times, despite this, Edinburgh-Leith has 4! There is only one of these vessels which is in a position to be put back into service, ours!

We have a great working team onboard, though given the sheer size of the project we are keen to encourage more people to come down and get involved.

What skills you need to have: None!
While we are delighted to welcome members of a seafaring or engineering background, we also encourage willing people to come down, get stuck in and learn.
We have various tasks and areas where volunteers are required, these range from fund-raising to tour-guiding and painting to engineering work.

The ship is located in Leith docks, we attend the vessel on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 11-3. We welcome visitors, new members and volunteers. Unfortunately, due to port restrictions, we cannot permit any under 16s to attend at present .
