This course is for anyone who wants to expand their world, their thinking, and the view they have of themselves.
It offers a welcome opportunity to consider philosophical ideas and questions of real relevance to our lives. To have the kind of conversations we'd all like to have, but in a busy world, seldom do.
The approach is practical rather than academic. There are no exams to pass. The course does not offer certificates or other qualifications but something much more important - a living philosophy of real value in dealing with the challenges of everyday life, and developing our own potential as fully as possible.
Discussions are underpinned by the philosophy of unity, or Advaita, a universal, non-denominational teaching, literally meaning 'not two'. It is Eastern in origin, but of completely universal application because it points to the unity underlying all things.
The introductory course is designed to be of real value in its own right but we offer additional regular courses for those who feel they want to continue the study. After a time this includes meditation and the shared enjoyment of being part of an established, open, voluntary body of people interested in continuing philosophical enquiry.
All are welcome. The hope is that everyone, however long or short their stay, will find something of real value.
