Moe Flex - Improvers and Intermediate - Classes 8.00pm and 9.00pm
These classes are for the more experienced and for many Moe doesn't need any introduction. However, just in case you have never heard of Moe Flex, here is a run down.
Moe is one of the most sought after International teachers that is based here in England. His enthusiasm to teach and his love for latin dance (not to mention party) is so infectious, you can not fail but to fall for his charisma and charm.
Moe has worked with the likes of Madonna, Justin Timberlake and 50 Cent. We wonder how after events like these he can maintain his enthusiasm to teach at small venues like ours, nevertheless he does and whenever he is available we book him just as often as we can!
In 2009 we ran Sunday Bachata workshops with Moe and they were always full (maybe we should start to run some more?). His routines were so smooth and so cool you really could tell his students apart on the dance floor. That is why we have chosen your first class tonight to be that lovers dance that was born in the Dominican Republic, Bachata!
Moe teaches so many different genres of dance that it is always hard for us to choose what classes you would enjoy the most. Whatever Moe teaches it is taught with enthusiasm and passion. His students always seem keen to learn and this is because of Moe's unique teaching style.
Moe has taught Rueda for us on numerous occasions and watching the dancers enjoy themselves has made choosing one of tonight's lessons very easy.
(Experience is needed for both of Moes classes).
Beginners Salsa & Rueda - 8.00pm and 9.00pm classes
Tonight for anybody who has little or no experience of Salsa or those who want to simply polish their basic techniques; there will be two lessons in the Carter room with two of Salsa Bristol's own teachers. You are welcome to come alone, with a partner or a group of friends.
Your first lesson will be in Cross-Body Salsa where you will be taught the basic steps of how to Mambo, Rumba and Back-step. You will also be taught the most basic of turns being the Walk-turn. Your lesson will include both solo and partnership work and you will be taught a short, fun routine that you can practise later on the dance.
Your second lesson is in 'Rueda'. Rueda is danced in a circle of people and partners are passed from one to another as various moves are called out. These classes are always fun as you can guarantee a pile-up as moves go wrong or dancers do not move from one partner to the next quickly enough. NB: Regardless of the level of dancer, Rueda is always fun and there are always pile-ups.
These classes are taught at a speed with which you can learn and no one is left out!
Your DJ's
We have two Latin party rooms, each with air conditioning, ample seating and wooden sprung floors.
Moe doesn't know it yet but we are going to get him to DJ the smaller Somerdale room that means Cuban party music all night long. Moe is such a fantastic teacher that many do not know he is also an international DJ and plays at all the top congresses around the world. We have never had Moe DJ for us so tonight is a real treat!
Playing the Carter room is our resident DJ (I used to be Tiny) Tim. Tim plays a wide range of music from R&B to Bachata to Cha Cha Cha and Kizomba. His music is funky and upbeat that is why we have hired him for the past 5 years and why he keeps the dance floor packed right up until closing time!
At the end of each night Tim has made the tradition of finishing off with animation (he shows, you copy). Make sure you are in the Carter room at the end of the night for this, ensuring fun right up to the very last minute!
The Venue!
It's readily accessible either by car, bus or train. There are hundreds of off road parking spaces that have 24 hours security. The local bus route is just a short walk to the High Street, the train station is directly across the road.
The bar is fully stocked and cheaper than pub prices. There are two Latin dance rooms in use this evening each with air conditioning and ample seating plus both rooms have independent sound systems that afford the very best in sound quality.
The atmosphere is always one of excitement and there is a real 'buzz' in the air. The people who attend are amongst the friendliest you will meet and just about everyone has a smile on their face.
Whether this is your first time or you are seasoned dancer everyone is welcome.
