Are you interested in singing real gospel music from classical gospel, negro spirituals, traditional gospel, contemporary gospel, Jazz gospel and even Acapella gospel.- Do you love Fred Hammond, Byron Cage, Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Take Six, Negro Spirituals, Handel's Messiah?
- Are you thrilled by the thought of challenging music and styles?
- Do you want to experience what real gospel is and no longer want to sing Lean on me?
Well maybe this choir is for you.
We are a gospel community choir based in Enfield.
Our aim is to make gospel music inclusive and accessible to the community whilst focusing on supporting Charities and voluntary organisations through fundraising performances and Workshops.
We are looking to recruit at least an extra 10 singers from
all over London.
We need sopranos, altos, tenors and basses.
Our combined experience as singers and musicians span over 15 years.
The Choir director herself sang in the prestigious London Adventist Chorale for 4 years and was an active member when they won the Sainsbury Choir of year 1995. She has done many live performances, session work, studio recordings, radio and tv performances with different choirs and groups. She has nearly 20 years of experience singing jazz, acapella, classical and contemporary gospel music.
The ability to read music is not essential but it is desirable as some music may be in notation form.
We will be challenging ourselves with different styles of music from Classical, jazz, acapella to straight out belting gospel. So you must be able to adapt your voice to each style if possible. But don't worry about it because we'll help you if you are having difficulties. As long as you are good with at least one style, we can work with you.
You must be able to:----------------------
* learn and hold your parts easily
* enjoy complex harmonies
* have the ability to blend well with the rest of the choir
* be fun and easy going
Vocal training will be provided and is essential to the progression of the choir. All members will be given an audition (Don't worry! I'm really nice). This will help us determine what style you sing best in, your range and what part to place you in.The aim of the choir is to introduce real gospel to the community.
We are Christian-based and do feel that real gospel has an important role in our lives. We also want to develop the choir into a performance choir, run workshops in the community and hopefully provide paid session work for members in the nearby future. So if you want more experience, then this is the place for you.You do not need to be a Christian to join. You just need to know that we are.
We are a relaxed lot and would love to have a relaxed but hard working choir. And we welcome ideas for ways to improve from choir members. There will be plenty of fun to be had! You will love it!
If you are a music student and need more experience and performances for your CV then come and join us.
Rehearsals are on Sundays from 3pm.
