Want to be part of something quirky and original? I'm your (wo)man.

About me:
I'm 26, been playing violin for nearly 20 years.
Classically-trained, but I've been playing a lot of Celtic & gypsy music in the last few years.
I write my own songs on guitar (I'd say I'm an intermediate guitarist)
I'm currently in a band called Buffo's Wake, a gypsy-folk-punk outfit with macabre circus undertones.
Although I love it, I really want to branch out a bit from the 'playing-music-for-drunk-people-to-dance-to' thing!
Having played a lot of festivals last summer (and will be again this summer), this should really help open some doors for a new project.

The 'project':
The end goal is basically to get a small band of talented, creative and committed musicians together to perform my songs (and yours, if you have them),
cast a new light over them, and collaborate for future song-writing. Then recording an album, gigs, festivals, etc.... whatever we can get!
I haven't got links to any recordings at the moment, but the songs are generally quite quirky and alternative,
spanning the alt. rock, folk, blues, gypsy and even asian genres (sounds almost 'too eclectic', but it's hard to describe using just words!)
New ideas and directions are more than welcome, but for a general idea, think Nick Cave, Jack White, Jeff Buckley, Joanna Newsom, Dirty Three...
...with some gorgeously clashing chords and interesting time signatures.
I'm not the best singer ever but have quite an interesting voice, and would like to share the vocals with a male singer
(who would probably do most of the singing)
I'm ideally looking for musicians who can play more than one instrument, which would give us scope for varying instrumentation between songs.
I would rather have a master of one trade than a jack of all, though!

Ideal line-up would be:
> Violin (me) (plus a bit of guitar/vocals if needed)
> Piano/keyboard/xylophone... something with keys!
> guitar
> double bass/bass guitar
> possibly a percussionist (preferably not a kit player)

So please get in touch if this sounds remotely like something you'd be interested in,
Can't wait to hear from you!
