Fancy trying a different sport? Didn't know there was Aussie Rules in Glasgow? Didn't know women also played the sport either? Please don't think of it as "Aussie 'No' Rules", as it is most definitely not.
The Glasgow Sharks Australian Rules Football Club is always looking for prospective players and people around the club to help out and join an ever expanding community in Glasgow.
It's not just a sport for ex-pat Australians, most of our team is Scottish. We currently play in the Scottish Australian Rules Football League and also the newly formed Caledonia Australian Football League that is a mixed social/semi competitive 8-a-side league played between the Glasgow Sharks club members being split up into 3 teams and is a great way to introduce yourself to the game.
We welcome people from all sorts of backgrounds and skill levels, all shapes and sizes. There is plenty of experience on hand to help you master the basic skills. All you need is the willingness to learn.
The season is underway, but it's never too late to come down and try the sport out. We train Tuesdays at Glasgow Green or Victoria Park, Scotstoun and Glasgow Green 10.30am on Sundays along with fortnightly fitness sessions for people wanting that extra boost. You don't have to commit yourself to everything, there is many opportunities to pop along, so why not give it a try.
We have a home game this Saturday 29th June at GHA Rugby Club, Muirend, KO 2pm vs Edinburgh Bloods if you fancy coming down to have a look first.
You've got nothing to lose really.
