For sale is a Cagiva Planet 125, which is fundamentally identical to the later Raptor 125 model. Has done about 8000 miles. This is the imported version with the very light/valuable Speedlite wheels, which are very high quality.
This was my first bike, and it was a wonderful choice. The only reason I am selling this bike is because I want to get something more capable of doing long distances: the highly tuned two-stroke engine in this bike would not appreciate long journeys (200+ miles at high speeds).
However, this bike (specifically this bike, not just the model) is probably the most powerful 125 you will find. Learner legal.
It is in mostly excellent condition. Below are details on all bad points:
Cracked end to the throttle lever. Not from a crash (has not been crashed to my knowledge), but when the stationary bike tipped over in very windy weather. Purely cosmetic.
Scuffs on the left of the tank where the previous owner must have lifted the tank a few times without unlocking the bars: the lever scrapes the side. Nothing major, and certainly only cosmetic.
Very slight leakage from the fork seals. Something to be looked at for its next service, but nothing major.
Indicator bulbs for the high beam and indicators have blown. A very cheap thing to replace.
Note also that these two strokes can be quite tricky to start in cold weather (though you may be better at using the choke than me), and do need a warm up period before riding (length depends on weather warm weather about one minute). Once warmed up, however, the engine purrs and grumbles along very happily.
The bike was serviced a few months ago by one of the countrys only Cagiva specialists (Ill give you their details), and the restrictor was removed. The mechanic said that the bike is so quick because it has been fitted with a non-standard carburettor. He estimated its power output to be nearly 40hp. Combined with the low weight, its certainly a real little monster to ride.
It had a full service at the time, with new wheel bearings, air filter, fluids, chain and sprockets. It had new front and back tyres not long before that, and the brake pads have plenty of life left.
The bike comes with some spare two-stroke oil (I recommend using the brand I have been using: its noticeably better than the specified Agip), two keys, the owner manual and a fair amount of service history. And of course, ownership documents!
Any questions just ask. The bike is available to view in central London, or if you wish, at home in East Horsley, Surrey. Full cash deposit before any test rides.
