Bedford TK 18 foot long, 5.7 ton, petrol driven chassis registered 1980, with a hand built mahogany and ash horsebox by coachbuilders Oakley of Hertfordshire. MOT (plating) until September 2014, Tax End February. Custom built interior by professional antique restorers.

The time has come for us to reluctantly sell our unique 1980 Bedford TK Oakley horsebox. We have owned him since 2005 and he has been maintained regardless of expense ever since. This beautiful Oakley mahogany box has two ramps, a jockey door and the inside has been fully hand built by us to create a live in space using antique pieces forming various cupboards, a wardrobe and drawer. It also includes a butlers sink, 1960's enamel calor gas grill/hob, vintage small fridge, wine rack and is fully wired for electric with a hidden caravan hookup and circuit breaker. He has attended many large exhibitions including the CLA Game Fair, Three Counties Show, various Woodfairs, Great Dorset Steam Fair etc. and without exception always attracts attention.

Over the years we have replaced the following on the Bedford TK chassis cab: Brakes - cylinders, shoes, master cylinder. Electrical - coil, alternator, battery, indicator stalk, plugs, points and all service items regularly. Six cylinder petrol engine - exhaust gasket, petrol pump, distributor, carburretor and starter motor.

We also still have all of the original partitions/fittings for the horsebox interior.

Why do we want to sell him? Mainly because we are getting older and over the last two years we have changed the way that we work and are so busy we hardly get a chance to leave the workshop. We also rarely attend any outdoor exhibitions at all compared to the past and as the horsebox needs to do regular mileage and sitting around in bad weather is not a good idea, we need to find a new owner that will carry on enjoying him as we have. He is not currently in perfect condition and unfortunately whilst we thought we would have the time to finish the last few bits of work to make him immaculate, we haven't. Ideally the cab needs to be refinished, there are some cosmetic areas of rust - nothing structural. The fibreglass roof also needs to be resprayed as we have removed our signwriting and the weather has taken its toll. The box is in very good order internally and externally. We have stripped the finish at least every other year and applied new oil which has kept it waterproof and maintained the colour. Contact us for further details or photos. The horsebox is also offered for sale elsewhere and the person making the best offer over £6,000 will drive it away. It is seriously good enough to live in should you be lucky enough to own a field.......!
