For sale is a very well presented Morris Mini 1000. Sunroof model.
I have owned the car for a few months, having bought it as a stop gap between 2 white ones which i also own and it has been a truly fantastic little car.
It has benefited from a complete restoration which was completed in 2008 by a classic car specialist in Thorney.
Here we are 4 years later and it is showing little sign of being any more worse for ware, in large part due the last elderly owners who looked after her impeccably, only using her for a total of 400 approx. miles in the entire 4 years of their ownership for which i know it was garaged.
Since i have owned it i had the brakes balanced and a new clutch slave cylinder fitted as the seal was starting to perish.
It looks, drives, starts, stops fantastic. The only reason i am selling is because i have recently purchased a tax exempt one and i also have another as a project. I don't need to own 3 minis!, no matter how much i love them.
This one is up for sale as i feel it is in too good a condition for someone like me as i tend to do at least 3000 miles a year in one and with that becomes inevitable use and mileage which i feel this car just doesn't deserve.
It has just over 50,000 Miles on the clock which is believed to be genuine. The engine and especially the gearbox are the best i have ever encountered (i think i have owned a total of 6 minis). There is no nasty noises nor crunching in either the usual reverse or second gear sychro's and also there is every MOT dating back to 1990 at which point the mileage was 32000. I have owned 2 mini's which had been round the clock and it seems obvious to me that this one hasn't.
There is very little in the way of rust.
The sills are completely solid (that's dust not rust in the pictures), the boot floor has had a patch in the usual spot close to the wheel arch.
All around underneath and around both sub frames is very solid and finished in a good coat of wax oil.
The floors are very solid as seen in the pictures.
The interior is in very good condition benefiting from like new black carpets and matts. The spare wheel and tooling is also included.
There is spare keys and a vast amount of paper work included with the car consisting of, aside from every MOT back to 1990, many receipts for works carried out dating from pre 1990 as well as more present. Original service book which came with the car (stamped up to 10k miles by 1978), two original owners hand books and to top it off, the original purchase receipt for the car dated 24th February 1975.
- The heater cable has seized as it was never used by the previous owners, so will need either greasing or replacing.
- The rear seat cover is starting to come away at the stitching where it meets the boot.
- The retro AM/MW stereo is not currently wired in (it needs four spade connectors to be fitted to the stereo for which all the wiring is in place, including speakers)
-There is a slight crack in the passenger door frame
-A few slight dings that were not ironed out before respray are viable but hard to find.
-The Dash boards are not the best and the lining is missing for it too.
All in all it is an exceptionally good condition old mini. I really would welcome and viewing or test drive to any serious bidders.
