Sewing Classes at Karen’s Studio Coventry

Know Your Machine
10am – 1pm
£35
Bring along you own sewing machine and get a better understanding of how to use it. Learn all about threads and threading, tensions, stitch selection and much more. Put new techniques and ideas into practice using your own machine, take away samples to refer to when you get home and begin creating!

Your Own Sewing Machine is required (in working order)

Sewing For Beginners (Two Day Course)
10am – 3.30pm
£47.50 for each day – two day workshop
Have fun and learn new sewing skills at the same time. Get to know how to insert a zip, make buttonholes, turn up hems, waistbands, stitch and neaten seams, add simple decorative techniques, understand a commercial pattern and how to adjust it to fit you. Find out about fabrics and threads, interfacings,
Make a simple skirt, or a top. Or maybe, make a simple cushion. Learn how to get that professional look to all your future projects. This class will be run over two days.

Your Own Machine is required (in working order)

Understand Your Overlocker
10am – 1pm
£35
Take the terror out of overlocking. Bring along your over locker and get to know all about threading, tensions, 4 thread, 3 thread, and 2 thread overlocking, stitch length, stitch width, and differential fee. You will work with stretch and delicate fabrics, master inside and outside corners, curves and circular sewing, rolled hems. Lots of samples to take home for future reference.

Your Own Overlocker required (in good working order with all accessories, electrics/plug)

It is recommended that your overlocker is serviced before attending this class.

If you have a manual please bring it along too, you can add notes by the
Instructions, very useful to refer to after class!

Nine Ingenious Ways to get Creative
10am-3:30pm

Create a wide range of fascinating and ingenious designs suitable for cushions, soft furnishings, garments and quilt. Learn Nine ways to create surface texture and fabric manipulation by using machine and hand embroidery, surface embellishment, twin and wing needle work, circular sewing, layering fabrics and much more.

All the workshops are fast, fun and simple to make.
No experience needed - just bring sewing machine. (Tea, coffee provided.)
Some fabrics and notions and threads will be provided but you may will need to bring your own to suit your colour scheme. An equipment list will be provided.
