Hi,
If you are working a home or project studio, and wish to develop a deeper knowledge of recording/mixing techniques and production/programming/music technology/composition etc then you might consider some lessons.
There's only so much one can learn from reading a book (or seven!) on the subject - music production is about LISTENING.... and then nurturing your skills to carve the music into your vision of how YOU want it to sound...
Working with Logic Pro•Logic Express•Cubase•Ableton Live•Reason•GarageBand•Plug-Ins•Synths•Sound Design•Analogue + Digital Recorders•Control Surfaces•MIDI Controllers•All outboard effects•Microphone recording etc
I am a professional teacher - not a producer who decided to turn his hand teaching just to even out the freelancers' income roller-coaster!
It's true, someone who 'knows their stuff' does not necessarily a good teacher make!
I can teach at my studio, but you may prefer to work at yours on your own set-up (call-out fee applies). Alternatively, you can bring in your projects to my studio. Call for a chat about system compatibility etc...
I am adept across most genres, with a particular specialism in electronic/dance music. I have been producing tracks for commercial release for over 8 years. I am also a writer/producer for the KPM Library Music House (the library music division of EMI), composing music for TV/Film use.
Because I have multi-disciplinary skills. knowledge and experience, I can teach a 'layered' session combining whatever areas the student wishes to develop - be it production, music-theory, keyboard skills, composition and arrangement, mixing, programming etc..
The rates for tuition are:
£40/hr plus call-out fee (which is £10 or more depending on time/distance to travel).
Block booking discounts for 2 or more hours booked.
These rates represent great value compared with institutions like SAE, Alchemea, Point Blank etc, and the sessions have the major advantage of being one-to-one and are not constricted by syllabus/mixed ability situations.
Courses at places like SAE are in groups of up to 25 people (!) - going at a collective pace with less and less personal 'teacher time'. People who have studied there tell me that these 'cram' courses are often counter-productive. They are also really overpriced for group sessions. Furthermore, as they are businesses, they often have a 'bums on seats' mentality in the management - which is not really about helping students foremost imo. I used to lecture at SAE - so I am speaking from experience......
(Also - check out the rates for 'Audio Support' one-to-one sessions - they have an ad here on Gumtree)
Please contact me if you wish to chat more about your music and how I could help with your productions.
Trouble-Shooting/Installation Services:
I also offer a professional 'troubleshooting' service to help resolve problems with your set-up.
Full studio installations/set-ups are also taken on - Small bedroom set-ups up to large studios.
