Native Sinhala speakers urgently needed for an experiment
Hi,
I am a PhD student at UCL and I am looking for native Sinhala speakers for a listening experiment for a research project I am working on. The aim of this study is to investigate the basis of difficulties that arise for non-native adult listeners when discriminating English speech sounds. The participants in this study will hear speech and non-speech buzz sounds. In different experiments, you will either try to identify the sounds (e.g., press a button indicating that the consonant was “b”) or discriminate the sounds (e.g., decide which sounds are different). We will also record your voice reading English, and give you a brief hearing test. This experiment will take about 2 ½ hours to 3 hours, including breaks. The participants will be paid £35. To take part you must have learned Sinhala as your first language and not be bilingual from birth (you can have learned another language later on in life, but not at the same time as Sinhala).
If you're interested, please email me at m.pinet@ucl.ac.uk as soon as possible.
Thank you very much for your help!
