Teaching Assistant for Pmld and Sld School
A Special School in South West London which caters for Pupils 2-19 with Severe Learning Difficulties and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties is looking for EXPERIENCED learning support assistants to aid in class with small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
The Learning Support Assistant will be responsible for supporting the student's learning, social emotional and physical development towards independence within the school. You must be willing to assist in a way which enables ALL pupils to access the curriculum, this may include mobilisation, hydrotherapy and swimming in some cases.
The successful candidates MUST have experience working with students/young adults with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Severe Learning Difficulties, Autistic Sensory Disorder, Sensory Impairment and Extreme Challenging Behaviour.
If you have skills such as Makaton, Pecs, ABA and appropriate handling techniques, this would be greatly beneficial however it is NOT essential at this stage.
This is not a job for the faint hearted, however the role is vastly rewarding for those who demonstrate the correct attitude and skill sets.
