Ruth is embarrassingly experienced with animals of all sorts. Having volunteered at Mayhew Animal House and working with their canine behaviourist and dog groomer who is a renowned specialist in clicker training, rescue dogs and training dogs for TV and film.
Ruth achieved high grades in a full time BTec First Diploma in Animal Care at Capel Manor College, covering Animal Husbandry - working with varied large and small mammals such horses, farm animals, chinchilla’s, rats, mice, rabbits, ferrets, guineas pigs and caring for exotic animals including snakes and other reptiles. The course covered all aspects of care including first aid, basic nursing, nutrition and housing, conservation, equine, farm animals, estate skills and biology.
She also worked for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home both in the kennels and cattery. Whilst there she trained in obedience, boisterousness and dominance, attention seeking, introducing and pairing dogs together, insecurity and anxiety's, animal body language and communication, dealing with aggressive and dangerous dogs, food and toy obsession, breed traits, boredom, lead pulling and socialisation.
While at Battersea also took a course in Telling Touch therapy (massage stimulation for all animals) with the famous Sarah Fisher, who incidentally is married to Anthony Head.
Ruth has also spent the last five years helping run the dog kennels at Crisis Open Christmas for the homeless.
