Freelance New Media Tutor needed for Vital Regeneration
Vital Regeneration aims to bridge the gap between disadvantaged neighbourhoods and the rest of the city - working to address deprivation in the 20% of most deprived areas. Vital Regeneration is a unique organisation working in dense social housing contexts. Our activities sit across the axis of art, technology and education.
We are responsible for the management of a number of community development projects including Firststep.com and Queens Park New Media Centre (community digital arts centres), The Greenside Community Centre and a number of youth arts projects notably the Westminster Wireless Communities Project ‘FreqOUT!’; the photography project ‘Visions of Me’; the film project ‘Urban Attitudes’ and the arts in school’s project ‘Play Space’.
Roles and Responsibilities
Teaching
•Appropriate to their level of ability and experience, teach young people how to develop creative industry skills
•Share your own skills, knowledge and experience of working in the creative industry to given learners more information about what the industry is like.
Suggest, set up and run visits, events and developmental learning activities for learners with the support and agreement of the Project Manager
•Ensure schemes of works and lesson plans are stimulating, practical, varied and thoroughly planned.
•Differentiate lesson plans according to the needs of learners.
•Take health and safety, child protection and equal opportunities issues into account in all your planning and teaching.
•Manage the behaviour of learners, in relation to Vital Regeneration’s guidelines, policies and procedures.
•Monitor behaviour, attainment and achievement.
•Provide additional support to learners with special educational needs, learning difficulties, disabilities, educational behavioural disorders (this list is not exhaustive and, with training if necessary, you will be expected to support the needs of all learners).
•Help professionally-develop volunteers and support tutors working alongside you by giving them the opportunity to lead parts of the teaching within sessions.
Recruitment
•Act as an ambassador for Vital Regeneration, informing learners about other programmes it runs that may be of interest/beneficial to them.
•Make suggestions to the Project Manager about how to improve recruitment of learners to the project.
•Ensure all paperwork in line with Vital Regeneration quality procedures and funder requirements is filled in by yourself and the learners thoroughly and by the required deadlines.
