London books for sale
New York State bar exam materials books, notes et cetera (£490)
If you want to pass the New York State bar examination, this set of materials is all you need.
There are several bar exam courses given in London, but they will set you back £2500 in course fees. You can study on your own and pass for a lot less with just text and practice books and other study materials. You will need to pass the MPRE (ethics) and the bar exam and what I'm offering to sell you covers both exams.
I did take the Holborn College course to prepare for my first attempt. If you are taking a course, don't go there but their materials will be of some help:
- HC Course Notes (a binder, theory)
- HC Course Planner (a binder, practice questions)
- HC Course Planner (book, both theory and questions)
- Practising Law Institute's Multistate Bar Review (book)
It's the BarBri books I relied on to pass:
- New York Outline (a comprehensive outline of all relevant New York State law, for the essays (40%) and NY multiple choice questions (10%))
- Multistate Outline (a comprehensive outline of the law tested on the MBE (40%))
- Conviser Mini Review (covers both NY and multistate)
- New York Testing (over 100 NY essays samples, and NY multiple choice questions)
- Multi-Performance Test (MPT (10%)) Workbook (discussion of the test and skills required plus 19 practice tests and answers)
- Multistate Testing: Drills & Released Questions
- Multistate Testing: Practice Questions
- Multistate Testing: Simulated Exam
Plus, the July 2001, February and July 2002 MPTs and Point Sheets (in all, 9 practice tests and drafters' point sheets), 10 sets of released essay questions and answers (5 essays per exam) since February 2003 and some more random handouts and printouts.
Also, of great help was Mary Campbell Gallagher's book Scoring High on Bar Exam Essays. (This book alone costs £50 and is worth every penny.) It's not enough to know the theory. You must practice writing essays, the way the examiners want to read them. This book tells you exactly how.
Finally, the MPRE. It's a separate exam, one you must pass within three years of passing the bar exam in order to qualify for admission. I've got:
- Strategies & Tactics for the MPRE (book, theory and practice questions)
- Model Rules of Professional Conduct (book, an ABA publication)
- MPRE Sample Questions VI (booklet, 150 practice questions, NCBE)
All is in the £490 price. Cash only please, for pick up preferred.
