Programming Team Leader

The British Museum’s IS department needs a Programming Team Leader who can oversee the work of other programmers and provide programming expertise for more complex projects. Your time will be split around 40% on team leading and 60% on programming. You will have a high level of analysis and design skills with the ability to work to formal methods such as UML. Your expertise includes C#, .NET 3.0, Microsoft SQL 2005, Visual Studio 2005/8, Web Services/XML, JavaScript and UML. Knowledge of BizTalk and SharePoint development is desirable. This is an ideal opportunity for someone wanting to make the step up to team leading in a supportive but stimulating environment or who wants to improve their work-life balance whilst maintaining their technical skills.

The British Museum’s IS department develops and maintains a wide range of applications. IT is needed to extend access to the Museum’s diverse collection of antiquities with an increasing emphasis on using the web to reach our audiences. IT is also essential for developing operational efficiencies within one of the UK’s most popular visitor attractions. You should find that the programming work is both varied and can be technically challenging. You will be encouraged to develop and maintain your technical and management skills via both informal and formal training. The post is based at our main site in the heart of Bloomsbury and would report into the Systems Development Manager.
