Web Developer (HTML, XHTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, Flash, SQL)

Key Accountabilities:

• Liaising with the marketing and buying functions to plan activities and website developments
• The creation of required website functionality in collaboration with third party ERP system
• Creation of rich media for both on site and email use in line with brand guidelines
• Testing and refining the design and site features to deliver the best user experience
• Responsible for excellence in usability, accessibility and optimisation standards
• Modifying customer and content databases


Specific Knowledge / Qualifications:

• A deep understanding of internet programming and scripting languages, most notably HTML, XHTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, Flash, SQL
• Experience of Blog and Forum creation
• A good working knowledge of the main web design software, including Photoshop
• Strong creative skills with experience of print work as well as online
• Good problem-solving skills, together with a logical approach to work
• The ability to explain technical matters clearly to people who may have little knowledge of IT
• An ability to work to deadlines
• An understanding of legislation and guidelines for website accessibility
• A willingness to keep up to date with changes in technology and software
• A working knowledge of equipment such as scanners, and digital photo, video and audio equipment
• A knowledge of Windows 2003 and Exchange server and Active Directory Service system administration/build and VPN, firewall and site security administration/maintenance would be a distinct advantage
