Rare 1970 Gibson Flying V Vibrolo Model One Owner (£1,700)
This and the other guitars that i am listing came from the estate of a former professional musician that worked in the late 60's and early 70's. It is a one owner guitar that has been stored for many years. I am normally a furniture dealer, so if you have any questions, please be very specific and i will do my best. I enlisted the help of a reputable local guitar shop to address what should be the most important details: Started off as creme white but has aged to a deep butter yellow with tons of laquer crazing . This guitar came originally with the vibrolo that is on it as noted by the discoloration when we took it apart. Unfortunately, at some point many years ago, Two holes were created when a stop stud tail piece was added. We simply removed the two studs and slipped the original tremelo mechanism (which never left the case) into its original place. The serial number, 990001 (with no made in USA), coincides with the used sales receipt from July 1970 that is included. There is also a #2 stamped between the tuning pegs on the back of the headstock which indicates that it was either a factory second, or a demo model. The pickguard has a beautiful blue-ish green patina. All knobs, switch, and pick ups are stock. The one pot we can read is stamped and dated 137 70. There have never been any cracks or repairs. Tuners are original and when removed, show the same color fade as when the other parts are removed. This is a very rare guitar and according to the Flying V websight, it is one of only 47 made. It is the same color as Les Pauls of this era. It comes with it's original case and goodies inside. The guitar has been tested and all electronics are in perfect working order.
