Health, Safety and Environmental Manager
Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring that all safety legislation is adhered to and policies and practices are adopted. We require a proactive manger who will, develop, implement and monitor all of our procedures relating to work carried out on the Olympic Park site. Some of the responsibilities are listed below
Role
 Preparing health and safety plan and integrating with main contractors policy;
 Managing the development and implementation of an environmental management system;
 Carry out risk assessments, method statements and ensure workforce is fully conversant with safe systems of work.
 Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented and adhered to.
 Coordinating all aspects of pollution control, waste management, and recycling
 Planning practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health and safety and safe working practices and by so doing create and enhanced Health and Safety culture on site.
 Leading the implementation of environmental policies and practices;
 Attending safety meetings;
 Liaising with main contractor on all matters concerning health, safety and environment;
 Apply for all consents from statutory authorities and ensuring compliance with these.
 Carrying out tool box talks
 Carrying out site safety inductions
 Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation;
 Coordinating consultations on environmental matters;
 Managing relations with the main contractor, senior management and all site staff;
 Assisting staff at all levels in environmental issues and responsibilities;
 Writing environmental reports, assuming the lead responsibility within the site team;
 Keeping records of inspections findings and producing reports that suggest improvements;
 Keeping records of incidents, near misses and accidents and producing statistics for managers;
 Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the Olympic Park;
 Producing management reports
 Carrying out accident investigations on site and producing subsequent reports and recommendations;
 Managing and organising the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos;
 Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
