Bexley & Dartford Samaritans is always looking for people with the ability to listen, without passing judgement. You don't need formal qualifications or previous experience, but a natural ability to listen and remain open-minded is essential. You must be over 18.

If you volunteer as a ‘listener’ during the day or night, you’ll develop the confidence and precious know-how to turn your natural instinct to want to help someone in difficulty into positive, sometimes life-changing support by phone, email, text message, letter, even face to face.

If you volunteer behind the scenes, you’ll be helping our branch run smoothly and play a key role in keeping our vital service open. We also have a snack bar in Thamesmead that you might be able to manage or help with shifts.

We're sure you'll get a huge amount from the experience of being a Samaritan volunteer but it's up to you. So why not find out more by coming along to one of our regularly hosted information evenings held at our branch in Bexleyheath. After a short talk and a DVD, you'll get the chance to talk to the volunteers themselves and then decide if you want to take things further.
