Fender Champ 12 1987 Class A valve amp (£200)

I'd like to sell my Fender Champ 12 valve amp. It is a Fender amp from 1987 (from the speaker date code), with a 12" inch Eminence speaker.

This model is not produced by Fender anymore. It's a US -made all valve class A combo, with a 6L6 power valve and two 12AX7 valves

Unlike other Champ models, it has two 12AX7 valves in the pre-amp to produce additional overdrive. If you use the clean channel you can crank the volume amp until you get overdrive in the usual way. It has lots of clean headroom until you get there, though. If you use the dirty channel you can control the overdrive with the master volume and gain, which allows you to get valve overdrive at manageable volume levels.

The amp is in good condition and full working order. It sounds great, I would say it has a typical Fender sound on the clean channel and a great distortion on the dirty channel.

I have re-valved the amp to make the most of it. I think the valves I am selling it with are suit the amp particularly well:
In pre-amp v1, I've got a US-made JAN Philips 12AX7 (http://www.tubedepot.com/nos-12ax7-janph.html). This is a vintage valve made by Phillips in the US in the 1960s or 50s. It goes well with the clean channel with its sparkly treble and transparent sound.

In pre-amp v2 I've got a Colomor-branded BEL Indian ECC83 (12AX7) valve from the 1960s (very similar to Phillips and Mullard valves of the time apparently Phillips used the BEL factory to produce valves in India http://www.vacuum-tube-shop.com/index.php?url=tubes), a very hard to find great valve. It gives a much smoother overdrive on the dirty channel than the original GT Fender valve. The original sound was more high gain, I find this more versatile. I can add the original valve if you prefer that kind of sound.

As the power valve I have a US-made 7581A (6L6GC) power valve, instead of the usual 6L6. This high quality valve originally intended for industrial and military applications. It is non-branded but appears to be pretty old to me, judging from the inscriptions, it might be an RCA or General Electric.

Here is more info and reviews on the amp itself:

In summary, it’s a nice little amplifier in very good condition, great for recording or playing small gigs.

Price is 200 pounds, no offers, please.
