Specialist Dyslexia & Disability Tutor
Candidates must be educated to Degree level or equivalent and hold a SpLD postgraduate degree qualification. The ability to carry out diagnostic assessments would be advantageous but is not essential. Ideally candidates should be familiar of working at Further and Higher Education level (levels 3 + 4).
The successful applicant will have proven experience of working with students who have specific learning difficulties (i.e. Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and ADHD). Experience of working with a range of other disabilities i.e. Asperger's Syndrome and Speech and Language Disorder/s would also be advantageous.
Candidates will be required to carry out specialist one to one study skills tutorials with students (i.e. time management, organisation etc), along with any associated paperwork, tutorial forms and individual education plans.
The role will also require the individual to deal with students' special exam provisions and DSA applications and queries. The successful candidate must have excellent tuition, communication and negotiation skills as well as good organisational and administrative skills. A
good working knowledge of Word and Excel is also essential.
The role requires somebody who is friendly, approachable and has a good sense of humour; and is able to work flexibly and with patience, to the changing needs of our students over the academic year.
