The pole comes in three sections that simply slot together. You then simply put the pole in position and it's ready to go. The pole is spring loaded, meaning that it will remain tightly in place with no screws or bolts required! It's suitable for ceilings up to 2.5 metres, which should mean it's fine for the vast majority of British ceilings (the average height is 2.29 metres).
