Yes, this is your chance to write your own song?!?
You must be over 16 years old or over. Skin colour, Race/Ethnicity or musical background will definitely not stop you from joining us, just as long as you have the desire to learn and sing then you are more than welcome.
No previous experience of choral singing needed or song writing is needed; or you may have some experience of choral singing but want to learn more about gospel choral style singing.
Come and enjoy and learn at professional rehearsal studios and music venue which has been home to several professional UK Gospel Choirs and recording artists. This intensive project runs once a week for three weeks.
At the end of the project participants will have a better understanding of:
Harmonising and Rhythm.
Learn how to sing as a gospel choir, in unison and harmony with accompaniment.
Understand voice production and microphone techniques.
Learn performance skills and choir choreography!
-Gospel Music and Gospel Singing
-Songwriting
-Recording and Performance
Participants will also receive a CD of the music/song they created on the project. –Yes you will have your own recording of your performance!
You will learn and have fun doing all this:
Part 1:
An introduction to gospel style music, warm up by learning a lively gospel song and singing it together with movement and claping to keep rhythm with the most brilliant band to back you up (live drummer and keyboard player).
Learning how to create your own song with others in the workshop and the help of the team. This is where the fun begins, you become a song writer –NO DONT BE SCARED! We promise will help as we have years of experience even for the most beginners of beginners.
Everybody who has done this workshop in the past has loved it.
We will all writing a song together. You will be split into groups to do this. One group will write a ‘verse’, another a ‘chorus’, another a ‘bridge’ (if you don’t know what all this means we will explain it all). This part may take a little time but once we have all the ingredients we will start cooking them together meaning; we will try and perform the song as a whole mixing all te parts we have written all together. We will then try this with the band and make it rock!
Part three:
We will start to tidy up the song, arrange it so it sounds nice and tight. We will then want to record the song. Yes RECORD IT! We will start to learn microphone and recording techniques. We will then spend the time with the band and team recording the song. You will then able to get your own recording of your wonderful performance on a cd or mp3 via the internet. And we might even be able to perform the songs at an event where your family and friends can come to watch!
So there you have it. You will have a lot of fun doing all these wonderful things. Now please read about the team below and see what kind of talented people you will be working with.
