Head Chef for established event-catering company

We are looking for a Head Chef with extensive event-catering experience to join our team. The company has been established for over 15 years and is accredited at some fantastic London venues with an excellent and varied corporate and private client base. We work predominantly in London and occasionally in other parts of the UK. The candidate should be ambitious, self-motivated and commercially minded with a flexible, pragmatic approach.

Skills & Experience:
- Extensive high-end, large-volume event catering experience - including canapé, bowl food, buffet & sit down. Ensuring the product is consistently of a high standard
- Broad knowledge of various types and styles of food and cooking techniques including good basic pastry, classic French, Italian, Middle Eastern & Asian
- Kitchen management, health and safety, hygiene & stock control
- Supplier management & relationships
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills and ability to efficiently manage permanent and temporary staff in different locations and situations. Assisting in the recruitment of staff, training & skill development
- Menu planning, food-costing and stock control, focusing on profitability without compromising product and achieving excellent results
- Time management, work-load planning and ability to ensure deadlines are met
- Computer literacy with a good understanding of the economics of event catering, achieving GP targets, managing staff costs etc.
- Driving license is advantageous but not essential

Terms & Salary:
- Standard working hours of 07:00 – 15:00/16:00 Monday to Friday with some evening, early starts & weekends
- Flexible terms with time-off in lieu during quiet periods which may suit candidates with families
- Salary of 35 to 40K depending on experience with excellent profit share and bonus scheme and annual salary review. Possibility of achieving a combined package of 50 to 60K within 2 years
- Good working environment with a friendly, professional, focused team
- Excellent large North London catering unit in secure, modern industrial estate, centrally located next to tube station, fifteen minutes from Oxford Circus
