Hey guys , im a singer songwriter who is frankly sick of rip of music promoters who make you bring 40 + people or something stupid like that before paying you £1 per person just to play at a crappy venue with bad sound and no kit.

lm starting a showcase night where I hire a venue and get singers/ and songwriters to play - singers will also get the chance to use a houseband if they want to showcase their songs with a band - The crucial difference here is that acts get to keep the money they generate from inviting people along.

Here's how it works I hire a venue this should cost between £60 and £100 singers send their original music to us and our houseband learns their songs. 3 or 4 acts play. Each act would be expected to sell minimum of 10 tickets before the show to ensure all musician costs are covered (acts would have to buy 10 tickets to sell to their friends beforehand) each act bringing 10 people ensures all acts play to a full house and a good crowd. Tickets cost £5 and this money goes towards paying the house band and the hire fee

Acts charge a fiver on the door so each act only needs to bring 11 people in total to make a profit. From the 11th person onwards you would get £5 per person you bring- so you should be able to make some decent money- as opposed to these crappy pay to play places that give you £1 after 20 people

Any extra money from people not there to see any particular band will go back into the night on advertising , promotion etc.

We spread the songs out so you play 2 in the beginning then the another later in the evening. This saves people just leaving after their mates have played and ensures a fuller venue and better atmosphere for everyone.

The motivation for this night is to allow singers and singer songwriters to showcase their music to a full house. As a musician I know that most musicians arent looking to make a mint, we just want a chance to showcase our music without it costing us and our mates a bomb just to hear us play. This night isn't about profit its about building up a good event to allow decent and committed singers and acts to realistically build up a following without some stupid rip off promoter demanding we bring 50 people on a monday night!

The house band can play all styles of music but is primarily looking for singers and singer songwriters who want to sing their songs with a band
