It has plenty of beautiful sandy beaches, backed by large stretches of sand dunes; the most popular being the Centro and Roqueta beaches whilst those next to the mouth of the river Segura tend to be quieter. A lovely spot also nearby is the Dunas de Guardamar, a woodland park by the coast. It is a lovely spot to walk, its fauna includes red squirrels and black swans. If your preference is golf within a 30 minute drive you will find several golf courses, the nearest being La Marquesa Golf Course only 10 km away. This is an 18-hole golf course open all year round set in a valley between mountains. It is not excessively difficult so players of all levels will enjoy it. Guardamar del Segura is south of the cosmopolitan capital ALICANTE, a beautiful city full of history and wonderful architecture. There are two airports, Alicante and San Javier Murcia from which Guardamar del Segura can be reached by car within a 25-30 minute drive.
