This would be an excellent job for someone who wants to use London as a base to travel/study as I am a teacher and can be flexible about whether you work during the school holidays.

We are looking for an energetic, caring, reliable person with initiative and energy to look after our 1 year old twin son and daughter, who are wonderful. Experience with babies of this age is essential. This is a sole charge position for 27 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 8-5pm. Thursday and Friday I am at home. On top of this I would expect another 10 hours flexibly.
I would like someone to start mid-December ideally, but I’m happy if you want to go home for Christmas!

Salary is negotiable depending on holiday arrangements & experience. We would pay for a travel card.

Our family: George and I have twins age exactly 1 year old, called Edward and Emily. They are just learning to stand up and are very sweet and affectionate.

Where we live: we live in Battersea very close to the King's Road and Chelsea and next to lovely Battersea Park. There are many play groups and church play groups to take the children too as well as the play ground and parks. There are also some good museums nearby, which have play areas. Our house is a traditional London house, with a big kitchen and two sitting rooms, so you would have some privacy in the evenings. You would share a bathroom with the twins.

The job: I am a teacher and you would have sole care for Edward and Emily from 8am - 5pm three days a week. Outside these times and in school holidays there would be a mix of shared/sole care. The routine is: from 8am, clear up breakfast and play with them until morning nap at 9.30am. Then get them up and dressed to go to the park/playgroup or shopping from 10-11.30. Give them lunch at 12pm, after which they sleep for about 1hr and a half. In the afternoon, there is another trip to the park or a play date (home or away), and back home to hand them over to me at 5pm. I would expect you to do a light housework to keep things tidy, but there is an excellent cleaner. You would have some free time on Thurs/Fri in lieu of evening babysitting.

Very occasional weekends would be extra. We also have a family holiday in Spain in August with all my family (30 people!) and hope you would come too.

Start date: Because I teach in school, you would need to start in the school holidays from 18-28 December 2009, before I go back to work on 5th January.


Duties will include:
Dressing the children & taking them to play group/the park
Activities and play dates
Occassional basic cooking for the babies
Tidying up children’s toys and bedrooms.
Light housework duties (we have a cleaner)

Essential criteria are:
Energetic, fun loving and trustworthy personality
Sole charge child care experience of 1-2 year olds
Excellent and checkable references
Excellent spoken and written English
Non-smoker
UK/EU or valid work visa
