Nanny / babysitting live-in jobs
Live in Au Pair for friendly family, boy 5, girl 3, average 27.5 hrs.start 30 June
Mobile: 07711 604 286
We are looking for an au pair to live with us from Monday 30th June (or one week earlier). The candidate should be prepared to stay with us for one year or more. We definitely want to interview you, so this position might suit someone who is already in this country.
Our home is only 5 miles from central London in a very desirable area. Everything is easy to reach on foot or by public transport: There are lots of parks, cafes and fashionable shops nearby in Chiswick and Hammersmith, and the River Thames is only 10 minutes walk. The underground tube station and bus stops are 2 minutes walk, and Central London is only 20 minutes on the tube. There are many language schools in our area. Our road is quiet. The house is pleasant, with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a large garden.
The au pair will live in the loft bedroom; this is a large and light bedroom on the top floor with its own bathroom and new flatscreen TV.
We have two lovely children. David is 5 years old and at School from 9am to 3.15pm Monday to Friday. Sophie is 3 years old and will be attending Morning Nursery from 9am to 11.30am Monday to Friday. She will spend 3 afternoons per week with the au pair and 2 afternoons with me.
Adrian and I are employed backstage in concert venues the Royal Albert Hall (www.Royalalberthall.com) and Earls Court (www.eco.co.uk). Our work is interesting and we hope that our au-pair will be interested in classical or pop music as we can usually get free tickets to events.
We are vegetarians and do not have meat in the house. We do eat lots of fish and dairy products, eggs, milk, yogurt, vegetables, fruit etc. We would welcome someone who enjoys the same sort of food. We do not smoke and we would like a non-smoking au pair.
We are looking for someone with very good English as they will play and read with both children. They are smashing little kids and are usually well behaved.
The Routine (Term Time from September)
should run as follows:
Monday: 0830 to 1030 approx : 2 hours housework, clearing breakfast, some ironing, tidying – times to suit you. The rest of the day off.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
0815 to 0915: Clear Breakfast, take both children to school.
0915 to 1130: Free time or Language School time
1130: Pick up Sophie from Nursery.
1515 to 1630: Pick up David from School or after school group. Take children home. (Each day there will be some washing to hang and children’s clothes to fold and put away. There might be some light cooking for the children and sometimes for Adrian too.) At the end of each day the children’s toys and books need to be tidied.
1730: Off Duty
Friday: 1000-1100: One hour of housework in the morning, including refolding the clothes in the children’s drawers and hanging some washing. The rest of the day and evening off.
Weekends: off (occasional babysitting)
Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday are flexible days – the au pair can arrange to have different days off each week if desired.
We would like the au pair to put away the children’s toys, books and clothes. There will be washing to put away and some ironing to do. There will be some cleaning work but we also have a cleaner once a week.
Your hours will average 27.5 – during term time they will be below this and during Holidays they will be above. We keep track of the au-pairs hours and average them out at the end of each holiday period – hourly overtime will be paid for hours above the norm.
Babysitting
The standard au-pair arrangement applies, we ask that the au-pair be prepared to babysit up to twice a week. Up until 2100 the hours will be counted as part of the total for that week, after that, the hours will not be counted.
We do not often ask the au-pair to babysit, evenings are usually free.
Holidays
We offer 4 weeks Paid Holiday per year, plus Christmas. The holiday must be taken at the same time as ours. This year we are away from 26th July to 9th August and 18th to 25th October. A Christmas break could be taken in addition from 23rd December to 4th January. Weeks away in excess of 4 will be taken as unpaid. Each week of holiday relates to 3 months in the job.
We are very happy for our au-pair to stay in the house if she wishes during her holidays, there is a spare bed in her room for a friend to stay.
Overnight Guests are permitted only with permission.
FOOD: All the Au-Pair’s food and drink consumed at home or on duty will be paid for.
