WHAT ARE H.I.D's

High Intensity Discharge Lighting System (Xenon).

This lighting system allows the driver to see much further ahead as it gives out a much brighter, whiter light which extends greater distances ahead of the car in comparison to the conventional Halogen bulb systems. The end result being greater clarity, improved vision and a much safer night time driving experience.
Not to mention bringing a fresh look to the car itself.

Introduced by Mercedes (1991) it was and still is a new way of lighting technology that is totally different to a conventional Halogen bulb.
The halogen bulb uses a tungsten filament which when heated in its controlled environment glows, producing the light we have all become accustomed to.
The HID system, relies upon two electrodes, that create an arc between them resulting in the usable light.
HID systems use less power than a conventional bulb (35W as opposed to 55/65W).

Despite its obvious benefits, this system is not offered as standard by most manufacturers and is purchased as an expensive optional extra.

WHAT DOES 'K' MEAN?

K stands for Kelvin which is a measure of temperature (as opposed to Celsius).
In this instance K is best used to describe the colour of the light itself.
There are many variants of colour but the most common are as follows.

4300k : Natural daylight white - This is the factory fitted option – Road Legal

6000k : Crystal white light - The best seller – Road Legal.

8000k : White light but with a strong hint of blue – Borderline in terms of road
legality.

10000k : Blue light with a hint of white – Not road legal – For off road use only.

12000k : Magenta/Light Purple- Not road legal – For off road use only.


HOW LONG DOES INSTALLATION TAKE?

The average time is approximately 1 hour to 1 hour and 30mins depending on the type of vehicle.
Some cars take less than 30minutes (e.g. IS200, FTO).

WARRANTY

Autolights are proud to announce that they were one of the first companies to offer lifetime warranty on installed HID kits.

I HAVE FACTORY FITTED XENONS, BUT THE BALLAST IS FAULTY.

No problem, we are able to retrofit our ballasts to fit your car and replace faulty factory fitted ballasts, the success rate is higher with Japanese cars, we can also provide ballast components such as the igniters which usually develop faults.
This process alone gives our customers significant savings.
