Seeking a publisher?
Hello folks, When I first embarked on a would-be literary career and I wrote a couple of football books I not unnaturally had trouble attracting the interest of the mainstream publishers, because let's face it, in the celebrity-driven book trade, your chances of securing a publishing contract rest almost between nil and zero unless you happen to be a contestant on Big Brother or a regular in Hello magazine. Therefore I found myself having to traverse the route of self-subsidy or vanity publishers. The first publishers charged me in excess of 2k for my book and the second publisher charged me about 1.6k for the publication of my second book. These scenarios were far from ideal, but in the absence of interest from the major publishing houses, those were the choices that I made. By the time of my third project, I decided to bypass all the other publishers and set up my own publishing firm. This company was intended to act both as a vehicle for my own writing and as an outlet for other would-be authors. Consequently, I have a company which is willing to publish books but which needs to charge writers. However, in view of my experiences with self-subsidy publishers, I have kept the writers' costs to a minimum. You are not being asked to part with 2k or such like. Instead, you have the option of either paying £800, receiving 10 complimentary copies and 20% royalties; or paying £1000, receiving 20 complimentary copies and 40% royalties. These costs cover such services as an ISBN number and barcode; typesetting; proofreading; and cover artwork. In an ideal world, a major publisher will publish your work and you will become a best-selling author. However, this is an exceptional possibility, and you may well be better served taking a realistic assessment of your sales potential. If you have completed a project and you want to get your work into the public domain, then using my company is more than a useful stepping stone. With one or two books in your portfolio, the chances of you eventually arousing the interest of major publishers ought to be greatly enhanced. Please feel free to browse at the twelve most recent book covers located amongst the 'pics'. Whatever misgivings you may have about my publishing firm, we are at pains to construct eye-catching covers, which are boosted by being laminated which in turn enhances their attractiveness and durability. Our books are on sale in a variety of Waterstones shops the length and breadth of Britain, as well as available in numerous libraries and independent book retailers. We don't just seduce would-be authors with the standard nonsense about being 'available on Amazon'. Every book is available on Amazon, so don't be misled by publishers who promise that your books will be 'available on Amazon'. This means nothing. The question is: are their books in the shops? Well, ours are! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Kind regards to you all
