Sen Teaching Assistant Autism Support
SEN Teaching Assistant job available in East London, Teaching Assistant supporting an Autistic student on a 1-to-1 basis.
An extremely friendly Secondary School in East London are looking for teaching assistants to provide one-to-one support to a Yr 8 severely Autistic, non-verbal, female student who is highly intelligent.
Over the past 10 years the school has greatly raised its standards and now boast an A*-C pass rate that is 20% above the national average. They have become the most popular school in their area and are over-subscribed by 60% every year.
You will be part of the SEN department whose aims are to provide a varied curriculum appropriate to the individual's needs and ability. They are dedicated to the inclusion of SEN pupils into mainstream activities and ensure that both the pupils and their parents are involved in any decisions affecting the student's future.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Ideally be educated to degree level
- Be able to demonstrate experience of working with young people in an institutional environment
- Experience working with Autism or other special needs is highly desirable (although training is given)
- Be committed and flexible
- Posses excellent English skills both written and spoken
- Be hardworking and able to use your own initiative
- A patient and caring personality is also essential
