Management Accountant
Experience of working in Oil & Gas industry would be an excellent advantageous.
Our Client, An Independent Oil and Gas Exploration Company is looking for an experienced Accountant.
The Position
Management Accountant, reporting to the finance manager for a small independent oil company. Day to day responsibilities are: operation of the accounting function for the headquarters, month end closing, clearance of manday costs to licences, preparation of joint interest billings, production of management information on each license, variance analysis, actuals to budget for each of the licenses,. The company currently participates in exploration licenses in Europe and North Africa.
For the operated assets (Morocco and Tunisia) the accountant will need to provide partner level accounting, for the non operated assets (Poland and UK) it will be more focussed on tracking the operator)
Qualifications Required
Newly qualified ACMA or ACCA. Candidates who are expecting to qualify in the immediate future will be considered.
Critical Skills
• Competent accounting professional capable of adjusting to differing reporting requirements in differing international regimes.
• Computer literate with detailed knowledge of accounting packages.
• Clear thinking, innovative, results orientated and able to demonstrate delivery of goals on schedule.
• Must be accurate with clear and auditable work papers to support each conclusion.
• Team player capable of interacting across various cultures.
Desirable Skills (training will be given if necessary)
• Knowledge of sage 200 or similar software package with SQL.
• Experience of balance sheet reconciliations, understanding of why they are necessary and the treatments and follow up of errant items.
• Ability to report on variance from forecasts and budgets and to give a narrative analysis of what has occurred and what corrective action, if any, is required.
• Knowledge of the oil business, the operational activities and the accounting implications of these.

Salary: ££30,000 - £35,000 per annum
