Christmas Appeal: Boycott trash celebrity books and invest in new talent
Hello ladies and gentlemen; boys and girls,
I know that an awful lot of would-be authors and wannabee writers come on this site, sharing their creative writing talents and trying to attract attention and engage in networking perhaps with interested parties. Well, in my humble opinion, your chances of being taken seriously by the major publishing houses might be greatly enhanced if you boycotted their celebrity books, the equivalent of literary junk food. I mean you can hardly move in a bookshop without knocking over a kiss and tell piece of celebrity garbage.
How do you expect to attract the attention of the major publishers when they are so celebrity-driven? By boycotting ill-educated celebrities giving their tuppence worth observations, you might convince the major publishers to invest in new talent from real writers, like yourselves.
Please note that this is an appeal and not a command, so no I'm not telling you what to buy and what to boycott, but as long as everyone continues to jump on the celebrity books bandwagon, the chances of new and genuine writers being given an opportunity are severely limited.
