Hi,

If you are working a home or project studio, making your own music and wish to develop a deeper knowledge of recording/mixing techniques and production/programming/composition then you might consider some (lessons.

There's only so much one can learn from reading a book (or seven!) on the subject - music production is about actually LISTENING.... and then nurturing your skills to carve the music into your vision of how YOU want it to sound...

Working with Logic Pro•Logic Express•Cubase•Ableton Live•Reason•GarageBand•Plug-Ins•Synths•Analogue + Digital Recorders•Control Surfaces•MIDI Controllers•All outboard effects•Microphone recording - vocals/guitars/drums etc

I am a professional producer/engineer/writer/musician with over 10 years of ACTUAL TEACHING EXPERIENCE behind me in:
Music-Tech/Mixing & Production/Programming/Composition (including lecturing at the SAE in Melbourne, Australia and Newham College in Stratford, London).

I am a professional teacher - I am not a producer who decided to turn his hand teaching just to even out the freelancers' income roller-coaster!

In my opinion, someone who 'knows their stuff' does not necessarily a good teacher make!

I can teach at my studio, but you may prefer to work at yours on YOUR tunes! Then there's a first hand experience of your learning - right there with your projects on YOUR gear! Alternatively, if you live further away, you can bring in your projects to my studio.

I am adept across most genres, with a particular specialism in electronic/dance music. I have been producing tracks for commercial release for over 5 years. I am also a writer/producer for the KPM Library Music House (the library music division of Warners), composing music for TV/Film use.

Because I have multi-disciplinary skills. knowledge and experience, I can teach a 'layered' session combining whatever areas the student wishes to develop - be it production, music-theory, keyboard skills, composition and arrangement, mixing, programming etc..etc..

The rates for tuition are:

£35/hr plus call-out fee (which is £10 or more depending on time/distance to travel).

Block booking discounts for 3 or more hours booked

These rates represent fantastic value as they are cheaper than institutions like SAE, and Alchemea (et al), have the advantage of being one-to-one and are not constricted by syllabus/mixed ability situations. Courses at places like SAE can end up being groups of up to 12 people (!) - going at a collective pace. They are also REALLY overpriced. Furthermore, as they are a big business, they have a 'bums on seats' mentality in the management - which is not really about helping students foremost imo. I used to lecture at SAE - so I am speaking from experience......

(Also - check out the rates for 'Audio Support' who have an ad here on Gumtree)

Please contact me if you wish to chat more about your music and how I could help with your productions.

Trouble-Shooting/Installation Services:

I also offer a professional 'troubleshooting' service to help resolve problems with your set-up.

Full studio installations/set-ups are also taken on - Small bedroom set-ups up to large studios - Analogue/Digital Desks/MIDI configurations/MOTU/Cubase/Logic/Pro Tools rigs etc.

These services are charged at:

£40 for the first hour or part thereof
£30 for each extra hour
Plus variable call-out fee (£10 or more depending on distance)
Special discounted day/half-day rates for longer sessions - please call to discuss

N.B. Other professionals I see on the internet and in directories charge around £70 to £80 (again - check out 'Audio Support!) for the first hour and then £35 for each extra hour for providing these kind of services. This makes my rates very competitive - and for a pro-service too.

Feel free to contact me for more information, and/or to discuss your specific requirements etc.

I am also available for recording and mixing/songwriting and production sessions, albums/singles/demos etc - please email for details.

Thanks for your time,
