Senior Bookseller required for small independent bookshop in Banstead, Surrey. Staff consists of owner, senior full time bookseller, two part time booksellers and a Saturday student.

The senior bookseller's role will include sales, daily ordering, stock contorl, returns, running events, creating window displays and furthering links with the local community.

The shop is open 9.30am - 5.30pm Monday to Saturday (Sundays 10.00 -4.00pm in December only ). You would be required to work Monday to Friday one week and Tuesday to Saturday the next. The shop is closed on Bank Holidays. Occasionally some evening work is necessary for events such as author signings or school sales.


We are looking for someone with the following skills :
A genuine love of reading and interest in books.
The ability to talk knowledgeably and enthusiastically about books.
The ability to sell and promote books.
Good communication skills, both oral and written.
Good computer skills, experience with Word and Excel and preferably Bookdata and Bertline.
The ability to plan and organise events such as book signings.
The ability to work unsupervised or as part of the team.
The ability to create enticing window displays.
The ability to sell and promote books.
A good sense of humour and patience.
A clean driving licence.

The salary offered for a 37.5 hour week is in the region of £13,000 to £16,000 depending on experience. References required.
