Hi there, I am a singer/songwriter/producer from London UK. My name is Val (aka Double Thumb) and my main influences are: Bjork, Bat For Lashes, the Cocteau Twins and Imogen Heap. In the last year my music has been played on both BBC Radio 6 and XFM and I got and very good reviews by Tom Robinson (BBC Radio 6) and producer/composer Kevin Kerrigan (worked with Bjork, Brian Eno, KT Tunstall, Britney, Kylie and other current legends).
My current live line-up is the following:
Me (lead vocals and keyboards on occasional tracks)
1 keyboard player
2 backing vocalists (they both play hand percussion, an ocean drum and an energy chime on some tracks)
1 violin player (she also sings bvs occasionally in some points).
1 beatboxer, who manipulates his voice electronically through a Kaoss Korg device

Our show is very dynamic, with complex instrumentation and arrangements. The goal is to get as close as we can to the great live shows that Bjork and Bat For Lashes put up.
My violin player unfortunately has to leave in january due to other commitments, so I am looking for a replacement.
Beware, this is an UNPAID POSITION. As much as I think it would be fair to pay musicians to play with me, I am not signed to any label yet and I already spent any penny I have on equipment and similar.
So, what would you gain by being in this project?
1)it is a serious project and very contemporary in instrumentation and arrangement (no time wasters needed, please!)
2)We are a nice bunch of people, nobody is big headed and we all work hard to achieve a great live show.
3)I know who I am as an artist and I know where I want to be in terms of sound and image.
4)we already have gigs lined up and I have further contacts with other promoters for gigs in really good places.

We rehearse every wednesday 9-11 p.m. in Acton. Rehearsals are free as they are in a music college where I attend a course.
The time and day of rehearsals could be changed, but everybody has other commitments, so the possible choices are limited.
