Within the furniture warehouse and in agreement with the co-ordinator, take responsibility for:

1. organising furniture in the warehouse for display and goods outwards
2. lifting furniture on and off vehicles
3. helping to keep the office and warehouse safe, clean and tidy.
4. making daily risk assessments, addressing problems, recording and dating findings
5. moving, dusting and cleaning furniture as appropriate.
6. cleaning upholstered furniture using machine and cleaning-solutions (training given)
7. sorting beds and other flat packed furniture so that component parts are kept together, labelled and colour coded. And where necessary making minor repairs to furniture
8. accompanying customers around the warehouse, assisting and advising them in their choice of furniture
9. giving direction to warehouse volunteer workers

Other duties and responsibilities include:

attendance at training courses and meetings as and when required

Skills, Experience and Attributes
• reliable and honest.
• punctual
• willing to work flexible hours
• work co-operatively with colleagues
• able to lift and shift furniture with assistance where necessary
• able to write basic information about clients and selected furniture
• ability to take-in information and apply it
• ability to communicate and work with a variety of people. Some previous experience preferred.
• able to take initiative and work as a team.

• Some knowledge of health and safety in respect of lifting and carrying furniture.

Normal days and hours of work
(Although flexible, working hours may occasionally be required)
Monday to Thursday 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. (4.30 if one hour optional unpaid lunch break is taken)
