£20 for participation in a research project
(only healthy male participants ages between 20-40 years)

We invite you to take part in a research study about Psychobiological reactivity to psychosocial stress
at the School of Human and Life Sciences, Roehampton University which is led by Dr Changiz Mohiyeddini (Psychology, http://www.roehampton.ac.uk/researchcentres/chp/members/mohiyeddini.html) and Dr Jolanta Opacka-Juffry (Health sciences, http://www.roehampton.ac.uk/staff/JolantaOpacka-Juffry/). You must be above 18 years of age, healthy and non-smoking.
Participation will involve one afternoon lab session, lasting about 2 and a half hours. At the beginning, you will be given a few short written questionnaires to complete which are designed simply to look at normal variation in aspects of mood and personality in the population (not as tools to diagnose mental illnesses). We will monitor your heart rate continuously by using a Polar watch. Your blood pressure will be measured repeatedly. Furthermore, we will collect samples of saliva, with the help of a cotton roll placed briefly in your mouth. Our trained phlebotomist (person who is trained to collect blood from vein) will obtain two very small blood samples from your arm vein into separate sterile little vials. This procedure is called venepuncture and it will be done very carefully and safely. This venepuncture will not have any lasting impact.

All this information will be available only to the research team and treated in the strictest confidence.
On completing this session, you will be given £20 (fixed) as a gesture of appreciation and to cover any travel expenses.
