Is it bonkers even to try such a thing? As a veteran user of the Internet, I’d like to think not.

In fact, I’ve met a few wonderful men from all backgrounds and walks of life since I dipped my toe into the online dating pool a few years ago. I had some fun dates, and a couple of them turned into what could justifiably be called ‘relationships’.

But, they didn’t work out, and I now realise that my attitude and approach was a major factor in their outcomes. This year, ‘stuff’ has happened to me that has made me re-evaluate what I want – so here I am, looking for a long-term, monogamous, public relationship. I’m not bothered about marriage, or even co-habiting, but I do want to be able to think of someone as my partner.

So, if you’re looking for something casual, move along now.

If you’re game, here’s an outline of what I’m looking for: someone with a Y chromosome, obviously, aged 34-45, slim-average build, a non-smoker, intelligent, sophisticated, solvent, considerate, emotionally open – and self-confident enough to be seen out with a very large woman.

And me? Well, I’m in my early 40s, BIG, reliable, generous, caring, a decent cook, fairly cultured and interested in current affairs. I have a healthy and uninhibited attitude to the physical side of relationships, and don’t underestimate its importance, but ultimately I’m looking for *more*, so it’s important that we click mentally and emotionally as well.
