Ok ..Knock on all neighbors doors and ask if they have seen your pet dont be embarrassed your pet is important ! Maybe was seen close by if u knock saving you time and stress ...u could get ur pet quicker ...get a small group of people willing to help you in ur immediate area if possible make a note of all streets knocked ..contact all animal rescue centres vets in ur area ...rescue centres are RSPCA,Battersea, Cat Protection League , Mayhew and any other on google make a note ..Inform as many vets as possible in your area inform advertise on gumtree lost pets sites etc make posters put them on all corners of every street give to local schools vets pet shops outside supermarkets and any shops willing to place ur poster..make a notebook of every area covered..try any natural places eg parks woods etc.Check your posters stay up n renew ...Remember dont put amount if offering a reward any genuine person wouldnt need to take a reward and personally I would nto give the name of your pet...
Hoax callers/Nasty callers - Dont be initimidated by hoax callers put the reciever on a table and walk away for 10 mins if they keep calling ..they will get bored do NOT react to anything they say. If they demand money for information then walk away let them keep talking put receiever on its side let them talk n get on with ur day then go back n put the phone down ...think about it NO balanced person would say that ! People who phone lost pet owners giving false information or demand money or say nasty heartless things are mentally ill and need help....keep focused and dont let them put u off finding your pet.
Never send money through post cheques etc or meet any one by yourself always take someone and meet in a very public place you can always ask help from local Police if person sounds strange or if you are unsure how to handle the situation.
Also google " How to find a missing cat " /Dog to understand why or how cats and dogs go missing and tips in finding your pets ......follow the advice there is alot of advice even from the USA.
Looking for Cats....Cats tend to hide if injured ,sick or scared or stuck from exploring in new places - they can be found in gardens, bushes, sheds, warehouses, garages, schools, gutter type pipes if kittens ,rooftops ,trees, they can fit into holes in derelict buildings hide in cemetaries..and also hide under cars to keep warm...also behind rubbish bins .and also jump in removal vans nd get whisked off to new areas.Be careful not to break the law its ...better to approach people rather than climbing over fences or locked places etc
Ask everyone you know from the Baker to the Community Police to look out for ur cat especially delivery people & bin men everyone has the potential to report ur pet but ONLY if they know or are told ...
Dogs can also hide in bushes run loose in open park spaces and possibly try to eat from bins if left out for long periods....they can also run on train tracks so report to Rail overground etc to make sure train drivers alerted and track workers.
It is possible to find lost pets....and the more people help the easier for the owner...so do what you can do and keep an eye out...Animalsearch UK also welcome volunteers and you can help in your immediate area just by looking out really simple !
If you find an animal the best thing is to take it to RSPCA where they can check its health n keep it safe warm and fed...I saved a lost dog running loose near a school n busy road in peak time no collor no leash and took it to Mayhew and they scanned him n he was reunited with his owner within 24 hours.
Gd luck finding your pets....and remember there is cat proof fencing you can build enclosures that have enough room for cats to play etc, dog proof fencing ,dog trainers ,pet tracking devices, microchipping neutering to help lessen the chance of losing a pet...google all this and there are some fantastic cat proof enclosures etc even if you dont have a garden u can make a n encloure on a balcony space for your cat keepng safe n access to air
NB RSPCA and Mayhew Animal Centre neuter dogs and cats for FREE.
Gd luck finding your pet and never give up...it is possible to be reunited !
