POSITION
We are looking for for an experienced, enthusiastic nanny to care for, entertain and educate our lovely 10 month old daughter. Commencing from 12 January 2010 but ideally with some paid part time work during December. The role will be a permanent position, and we are looking for a candidate who will remain with us for some time.

HOURS
• 3 long days a week 7.15am to 7.15pm
• One other day 10am to 6pm IF YOU WISH to take this on (we have alternative providers for this day if you don't)
• 52 weeks a year excluding bank holidays and annual leave (5 weeks)

You would need to be flexible on hours - We would sometimes ask you to work overtime, for pro-rata pay. There would be opportunities, though not compulsion, to work extra days and baby sit in the evening

REQUIREMENTS:
The following requirements are essential (please do not apply if you do not have them):
• previous experience as a nanny (minimum three years) preferably with babies in a sole charge position;
• reliability essential – we both have high pressure jobs and cannot afford to be late for work;
• references we will be able to check on;
• excellent English language skills;
• qualified in, or willing to obtain qualification in first aid for children and babies;
• good organisational skills, good interpersonal skills and willingness to follow guidance from us;
• creative with good understanding of age appropriate activities for learning and play;
• ability to impose boundaries for behaviour without undermining baby’s confidence;
• enthusiasm for the role, genuine interest in children and their development;
• recent CRB check;
• National Insurance number (permission to work in the UK essential);
• OFSTED registration or willingness to become registered;
• non smoker;
• must like dogs (we have a large but gentle and well trained one)

DUTIES
• sole charge
• entertainment and education of baby in the home (with limited use of TV)
• taking baby on short excursions (to the playground and regular activities)
• encouraging good behaviour, manners and discipline
• ensuring baby gets adequate exercise and outdoor activities
• cooking healthy meals for the baby and feeding her all meals
• bathing baby, bed time routines
• some driving may be required but not essential
• baby’s laundry and keeping toys etc. tidy
• maintaining a reasonable routine including meal times, play times and sleep
• focus on safety at all times (e.g. vigilance for choking hazards etc)
• minor ad hoc house duties (we have a cleaner) and occasional errands

Generally we will not allow friends to visit you at our house, though we may consider exceptions to this when you have been with us for some time. We would help you to meet people locally through parents and carers we know, and you will also meet people through classes, the nursery, and other outlets.
